Financial help for your elderly loved one

    • Aged State Pension age or over

    • Has a disability or health condition (physical or mental)

    • Needs help with personal care (e.g. washing, dressing, supervision)

    • Help has been needed for at least 6 months

    • Not already receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

    • Aged State Pension age or over

    • Lives in the UK

    • Has a low income (generally under ~£220/week for a single person, or £320/week for a couple)

    • Has limited savings (under £10,000 has no impact; £10,000–£16,000 may reduce amount)

    • On a low income or benefits

    • Lives alone or with another qualifying person

    • Possibly diagnosed with a condition like dementia (can qualify for 'severely mentally impaired' discount)

    • Owns or rents their home

    • Has a disability and needs adaptations (e.g., stairlift, walk-in bath)

    • Household income/savings are below a certain threshold

Financial support for you, their informal carer

    • Aged 16+

    • Spend 35+ hours/week caring for someone

    • The person you care for gets Attendance Allowance, PIP (daily living), or DLA (middle/high rate care)

    • Earn £151/week or less (after deductions)

    • Not in full-time education (over 21 hours/week)

    • Aged 16–64

    • Care for someone 20+ hours/week

    • Not claiming Carer’s Allowance

    • The person you care for gets a qualifying benefit
